John W. Sharpe

John William Sharpe, Jr., age 89 passed away Thursday evening September 22, 2016 at Clapps Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden, NC. The funeral service will be held Monday 2pm at Moriah United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. There will be a visitation held one hour prior to the service at the church. John was born September 21, 1927 in Greensboro, NC to the late John W. Sharpe, Sr. and Vesta Lineberry Sharpe. After serving his country in the US Navy he then worked for 40 years in hotel management. He also worked later for Neese's Sausage. He was a huge Wake Forest Fan as he was a graduate there and had a passion for sports. Surviving are his sons John W. Sharpe III and wife Ruth of Burlington, NC, Richard Sharpe and wife Vicki of Greensboro, one sister Dorothy S. Cox of Greensboro, grandchildren Amber Ray aand husband Sam of Graham, NC, John Thomas "J.T." Sharpe and wife Jordan of South Carolina, Megan Sharpe of Highpoint, NC, Allison Sharpe of New York City, Evan Sharpe of Greensboro, and three great grandchildren Hunter, Harrison and Hudson Ray. Preceding him in death along with his parents are his wife Iris Fain Sharpe and his brother Bob Sharpe. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of Greensboro Retirement Center and the staff of Clapps Nursing Center for all of their loving care and help.
