John William “Bill” Vanhoy, Jr., 93, of Belews Creek, NC passed away peacefully Saturday, September 10, 2022. A native of Forsyth County, NC, Bill was the husband of 54 years to the late Beulah Swaim Vanhoy and later to the late Barbara Jean Vanhoy and was the son of John William Vanhoy, Sr. and Avalee Lasley Vanhoy, both deceased. Bill served in the U.S. Army Infantry Division from February 1951 to February 1953. He retired from Western Electric with more than 30 years of service. Bill was a dedicated Sunday School teacher for many years at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church. He loved farming on his family farm where he raised sheep and grew Christmas trees. Bill was a loving and dedicated father, husband, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all that knew him. Survivors include his children, William Alfred “Al” Vanhoy (Sally), Kenneth B. Vanhoy (Laura), Dale Charles Vanhoy (Sonia), and Dana Webster (Howard); grandchildren, John Vanhoy, Eric Vanhoy (Leanne), Noah Frazier-Logue, Evan Vanhoy (Hope), Emily Flynt (Austin), and Will Webster; and great grandchildren, Lane Vanhoy, Mason Vanhoy, and Brett Vanhoy. In addition to his wives and parents, Bill was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Holly Webster; sister, Mary Frances Dean; and brother, Vernon Vanhoy. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held 3:00PM Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Jeff Coppley. The family will greet friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM Thursday prior to the service at the church.
