Josephine Conti

Josephine Conti, 95, of Forest Ave, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 14, 2013 at her home. Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 23, 1918 the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Proknevich Cherico. She received her education in the Amsterdam school system and became a homemaker after marrying Frank Conti on November 27, 1937. He passed away on August 8, 1975. She was a communicant of the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Frank Jr. and Richard. His sisters, Martha , Fran and Anna and Brother Frank. One great-great Grandson Xavier Martin. Josephine is survived by her son Robert Rita of Amsterdam. Grandchildren, Lisa Gonzalez, Stephen Conti, Marybeth Conti and Brian Godey. Great grandchildren, Casey and Alonzo Martin, Serena Gonzalez, Julianna, Mianna, Tessa and Sal Conti. A daughter in law, Theresa Conti and several nieces and nephews also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 18, 2013 at 11:15A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam with Father Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 prior to the funeral mass from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany NY 12205.
