Joyce Marie Monk

Joyce Marie Monk Joyce Marie (Karney) Monk passed away the morning of November 14, 2018, two days after her 59th birthday at her home in Tacoma, Washington. Her family had been by her side as she walked her final journey home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joyce was born November 12, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee and resided in Tacoma for the past 28 years. Joyce was well-loved by all who knew her. She had a magical laugh, and was quick to make those around her feel special and included. She also had a splendid voice, and could make any song she sang sound majestic. Joyce was a longtime member of the Apostolic Faith Church. She loved music, shopping, traveling and caring for her family. Joyce never met a stranger and loved visiting with her old friends and making many new friends along her life journey. She spent much of her life as a homemaker, caring for her three wonderful daughters and her husband during the years she lived in Portland, Oregon and Tacoma, Washington. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Henry Karney and Anna Nora Karney (maiden name Williams) and two siblings, Joseph Henry Karney Jr. and Toni Karney. She is survived by her husband Darrell Monk and her three children LaDonna Monk, Kristen (Kcie) Monk and Hayley Monk, along with siblings Cornelia (Peaches) Donald, Maurice Karney,Vanessa Gaddis, Kenneth (Rickey) Karney,Tanya Karney, Alisa Williams and numerous nieces, nephews, brother- and sisters-in-law, and many, many friends. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at the Apostolic Faith Church, located at 7420 9th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115.
