LEXINGTON: Funeral services for Kathryn Winifred "Winkie" Player, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at St. Mark United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Daniel Burbage. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Greeleyville, SC. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 3200 Lyles St., Columbia, SC 29201. Ms. Player passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late John James Player and Sally Easter Player. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, and was very involved in the church. She was known in the Earlwood Community for her Christmas round-the-table drop-in. Surviving are her daughter; Wanda Crosby (Guy) of Lexington; sister, Bertha Taylor (Harold) of Columbia; three grandchildren, Guy Crosby, Jr., Kevin Crosby and Kyle Crosby; two great grandchildren, Savannah Crosby and Emily Crosby; also other family and friends.
