Kathryn Marie Richardson
July 11th, 1956 - August 8th, 2022
Kathryn (Kathy) Marie Richardson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 8, 2022. Kathy was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on July 11,1956 to Briggs and Elsie Richardson. The family moved to Florida in 1958, for Briggs to begin his career at Kennedy Space Center with RCA. She went to Sherwood Elementary School, Johnson Junior High School and Eau Gallie High School. After graduating, she attended BCC and Florida State University, earning her degree in Psychology. Kathy was a very intelligent person with a quick wit so there was always a lot of laughter when she was around. She had an adventurous spirit, which allowed her to act on several different career opportunities during her lifetime, which included the Director of Cruise Activities for Carnival Cruise Lines, Stockbroker, Administrative Assistant to a General for Boeing, Transition Specialist helping acclimate Military families entering back into civilian life, Seminar Coordinator, and a T Rowe Price Investment Advisor. In April of 1988, she gave birth to her son, Dustin who was the light and love of her life. She was a devoted Mom who made him her priority. He brought her so much joy and happiness. In 1993, she married Steve Scheffule, who had recently enlisted in the Navy. They were stationed in Virginia and Chicago for short periods of time and then in Hawaii, where they spent 6 years. She was the best Tour Guide of the entire island of Oahu and Maui, for family and friends who visited her in Hawaii. When Steve left the military, they moved to Colorado Springs. After a few years there, she moved back to Florida to be closer to family and friends but the closest she could get was Tampa at that time. Finally, in 2014, she was able to move back to the Brevard County. She loved the beach and when she was still in good health enjoyed running, snow skiing, water skiing, roller blading, and riding bikes on the beach. Kathy was predeceased by her parents Briggs and Elsie Richardson, and many other Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her son Dustin Richardson and granddaughter Sophia, sister Dotty Richardson, brother Ken Richardson, nephews Chad and Brian (Amy) Fish, nieces Morgan and Brenna (Jake) Richardson, great nephew Blake Fish and great niece Alaina Fish, Uncle Aubrey Sloan and Aunt Beverly Logan, cousins Beth, Jorjan and Wade Richardson, Beth Robinson, Jennifer Bible, and Dennis Sloan.
