Kevin James Blasingame

Dr. Blasingame passed away on December 3rd. Kevin was born in Stockton, CA to James A. Blasingame and Grace (Cook) Blasingame and later raised by the best stepmom ever, Mona (Mombert) Blasingame. He grew up in Manteca, Jamestown, and Escalon. He graduated from Escalon High in 1975 and especially loved his time there as yearbook photographer. Kevin graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a BSEE in 1979. His first job out of school was in Mt. View at Scientific Micro Systems where he met the love of his life, Debbie (White) Blasingame. Kevin and Debbie married 10/18/80 and just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They have two wonderful children, Kathryn (accountant) and Alexander (airline pilot). Dr. Blasingame later graduated from Santa Clara University with a master’s degree in Computer Science. Kevin always wanted to be a doctor, so at the age of 34 the family moved across the country and he started Medical School at Philadelphia College of Medicine- graduating in 1995. You could say he was a lifetime student! While in medical school, Kevin joined the U.S. Navy (another dream), which paid for the last 2 years of medical school in exchange for 6 years of service. He did his residency at Naval Hospital San Diego and was then stationed at 29 Palms Marine Base. Since Debbie was not moving to the “end of the earth,” the family moved to Palm Desert. After the Navy, Kevin joined the Sutter Internal Medicine Group in Roseville, CA. While there, he got the opportunity to start a practice in Jackson, CA. Kevin and Debbie ran a solo practice for 16 years. He so enjoyed taking care of his patients and made many great friends. Kevin also enjoyed renovating his home, growing things, traveling the world, and his family and friends. Kevin is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Kathryn (Eric) and Alexander (Jamie); grandchildren, Jack and Samantha (the lights of his life!); his sisters, Lynda Lanni, Susan Robertson, Kathy McMorris and brother, Jimmy Blasingame. Dr. Blasingame has asked in lieu of flowers, checks be sent to Debbie to be deposited into his beloved grandkids college funds at P.O. Box 1826, Jackson, CA. 95642. He thanks all the people of Amador County for giving him a wonderful life!
