Larry Reed was born August 8, 1949, in Detroit, MI to Lewis Jay Reed and Grace Irene King Reed. He was one of seven children born to Lewis and Grace; Virgi, Louise, Jay, Larry, Cliff, Clarence, and Louella. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cliff, Clarence, and Jay. Larry was not baptized as a child but was baptized in the 50s after he found the Lord and became a Christian. He was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on March 30, 2014. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School on June 13, 1967. He joined the Marine Corps on July 12, 1967, and served until July 16, 1971. This included one year in Vietnam. He was a Corporal when he was discharged. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and graduated with honors on December 23, 1976. He joined the Army as a commissioned officer on January 13, 1977, and served until January 14, 1980. He remained in the Army Reserve and retired from the military on November 2, 2002. He was a Major when he was discharged. He married Sheree Odekirk on May 20, 1978, and divorced on January 28, 2013. They had two children: a son Matthew James Reed and an adopted daughter, Grace Anne Reed. He earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Arizona on December 20, 1986. He was hired on October 27, 1986, by IBM and held various positions during his 30 years with the company. He retired from IBM, as a Global Project Manager, on December 31, 2015. Larry and Kathleen Souchek pledged themselves to each other, under God, on August 30, 2016, and formalized their union on March 7, 2023. He now has two step-children: Steven Souchek and Lynnette Langdon. He passed away on March 26, 2023.
