Leo Michael Curley
February 27th, 1951 - November 18th, 2017
Leo Michael Curley, Jr., 66, of Port Charlotte, Florida came to the end of his journey on Saturday, November 18, 2017 surrounded by love and peace at Englewood Community Hospital. Leo began his wonderful journey on February 27, 1951 in New Bedford, Massachusetts born the son of Leo and Martha (Cole) Curley. Preparing himself for this journey, his path led him to Hobart, William-Smith, Haight-Asbury and finally to the University of Rhode Island where he was a member of Phi Betta Kappa. Leo took many paths in life where he met many of you reading these words and so many more, he loved you all, and I know no one that didn't return that love. From his youth in Barrington to New Hampshire, Pendar Road, Bay Campus, Curley Acres and to his final residence in Port Charlotte where he enjoyed 9 years of retirement in Paradise. Leo was a Renaissance Man with a passion for the arts, nature from dirt to sea; an avid sports enthusiast "Go Pats" and his beloved golf. Leo is pre-deceased by his parents and a brother, Mark. Survivors include his wife: Cathy (Lumbert) Curley of Port Charlotte, Florida; three daughters: Sarah Holgate of Apex, North Carolina; Kristina Gardiner of Cranston, Rhode Island; Paula Trolio of Charlestown, Rhode Island; three sons: Joshua Gardiner of Port Charlotte, Florida; Michael Holgate of Apex, North Carolina; Eric Trolio of Charlestown, Rhode Island; one brother: Matthew Curley and family of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; one sister: Katherine Rosener and family of Barrington, Rhode Island; five grandchildren: Emma, Keith, Bethaney, Jacob and Claire. The family will host three celebrations of life services. The first one on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the residence in Village of Holiday Lakes starting at 4 Pm. The second one will be on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Pinecrest Golf Club in Carolina, Rhode Island starting at 4 Pm. The third will be on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, because of Leo's love of animals, please make contributions to your local humane society "Double Woof." Englewood Community Funeral Home has been selected to handle arrangements. www.englewoodfh.com
