Madeline passed away peacefully with her family at home after a long illness. We were blessed to have her for nineteen bonus years. In 2001 she was driving with her two young children on Rt 295 when she had a massive brain aneurysm and somehow got her kids home before collapsing. Two days later another aneurysm ruptured. It can’t be explained in any other way than miraculous that she was back at work as a psyche nurse six months later. She grew up in Haddonfield and settled in Woodbury. Her passions were photographing her children, nieces, and nephews and spending time at her Lake Kandle getaway spot. She wrote beautiful poetry and loved to travel. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She spent countless hours wrapping gifts for over 100 people. Her giving was legendary. She touched so many lives in her work, especially helping troubled adolescents and special needs adults. She was the first of 11 children to go to college. Paying her own way throughout and earning her Master’s degree from UCLA. She taught several nursing classes at Gloucester County College and somehow found time to volunteer for SANE. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, children and extended family, friends and neighbors. Predeceased by her loving parents Madeline(Gallagher) and Edward Costigan, brother Lawrence Costigan, Sister’s Kathleen Clifford, Joan Monzo, Miriam Costigan, survived by her husband David and her children Daniel and Lauren. As well as sisters Mary Caruso, Barbara Lovett-Hanrahan, Anna Butz, Theresa Costigan and Denise Reilly and brother Edward Costigan jr. She will be sorely missed by many nieces nephews cousins and life-long friends. share the memories … share love … ShareLife® at www.mcgfuneral.com

McGuinness Funeral Homes - Woodbury

We have served the Woodbury community since 1951, when our founder, James A. McGuinness, opened our first funeral home. He knew the importance of families having a trustworthy, local funeral home to help them memorialize their lost loved ones and navigate grief. Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
