Magdalena (Maggie) Legarda Salaz , 92, longtime resident of the Salinas Valley, passed away on July 25, 2016 at her home in Salinas. She was born on July 22, 1924 in Chihuahua, Mexico. Maggie enjoyed being a homemaker all of her adult life. Her primary focus was her Apostolic faith, being active in her church. She is survived by her children Alice Salaz, Bryan & Orpha Eget, Luis & Irma Morga, Maggie Del Valle, Gilbert Salaz Jr, Jacob Salaz, Cori Salaz, Sebastian & Jocabed Salaz, Bernabe Salaz, Daniel Tom & Melinda Salaz. Grandma Maggie has 56 Grandchildren, 50 Great-Grandchildren, 28 Great-Great Grandchildren and 17 Great-Great-Great-Grandchildren. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Clemente & Petra Legarda, siblings Elvira, Aurora, Tina, and Angelito, her husband Gilberto G. Salaz and her daughter Lucy Culp. Visitation will be held Monday August 1, 2016 1-5PM at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas CA 93905, followed by an Evening Celebration Service at 6PM at the Encounter Church 111 Prado St. Salinas CA 93906. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday August 2, 2016 10am at the Encounter Church. Burial to follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St., Salinas CA 93901.
