Manning Franklin Tillman

Mr. Manning Tillman, 83, of Kernersville passed away on August 2, 2023 at his home. Born in San Diego, California, he was the son of the late Marne Jaxon. At the beginning of the Vietnam War, Manning enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for twelve years. He then was employed by Teledyne Geotech, Boeing and finally retired from the Center for Science and the Public Interest in Washington D. C.. After retiring and moving to North Carolina, he enjoyed working at Salem Lake. He attended George Mason University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree. Manning had many interests including photography, tennis, coaching soccer, target shooting, bridge, fishing, reading, and football. Family always came first for Manning. His wife, daughter, granddaughter and friends could always depend on him. Manning will always be in our hearts and missed forever. He is survived by his loving wife, Mona Harris; his daughter, Elizabeth Tillman; his granddaughter, Madeline Harris Teague; his brother, Paul Tillman (Christy); and a large, extended family including nieces, nephews, and many loving in-laws. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Todd Tillman; and his brother, Bruce Jonathan Tillman. The family will receive friends at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service, 213 W. Mountain St., Kernersville NC 27284 on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 1:00PM-2:00PM. Funeral services will follow beginning at 2:00PM with Pastor Don Martin officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Gur Cemetery, 1050 Cemetery St, Kernersville, NC 27284, where military funeral honors will be rendered in honor of Manning's service to the United States Air Force.
