Lifetime resident of Jackson, Mark James Giannini, 62, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Mark was born in Jackson, CA on May 23, 1955, to the late Rosemarie (Podesta) and William Ernest Giannini. Mark earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and worked for the Amador County Probation Department for 29 years. He was a pillar of the community and a member of the Jackson Lions Club. For several years Mark drove cancer patients to their appointments for the Amador STARS; coached the Argonaut High School girls’ basketball team; was a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West; volunteered at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church; and he was Treasurer for Christmas to Remember. In 2014, Mark received an award for Amador County Citizen of the Year. Mark is survived by his wife of 33 years, Catherine J. Giannini, of Jackson, CA; daughter, Laura C. Welch, of Ione, CA and her husband, Dallas; step-daughter, Denyse S. Halvorson, of Modesto, CA and her husband, Jimmy; step-son, Mark R. Patterson, of Shingle Springs, CA and his wife, Natalie; sister, Marcia Jordan of Jackson; grandchildren, Harper Jaymes Welch, Devyn Grace Halvorson, Ayden James Halvorson, Jacob Tyler Patterson, Jordyn Mae Patterson, Forrest Liam Patterson and Savannah Lynn Patterson; and beloved cousin, Patricia Huberty. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Martell, CA at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Contributions may be made to the ALS Association Greater Sacramento Chapter at 2717 Cottage Way #17, Sacramento, CA 95825, Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties at P.O. Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642, or STARS at P.O. Box 208, Jackson, CA 95642.
