Martha Marion Toscano was the 2nd oldest of 5 children born to Owen Marion and Mary Marion Castillo. She attended Catholic schools in San Diego until her teen years, when she transferred to Kearny High. Martha and her siblings were close in age, and her relationship with each was unique and special. The love and loyalty they showed her throughout her life was steadfast and beautiful. Debbie, Mark, and Angela gave her encouraging words and unconditional support in her last days. Pete and Mike, her brothers-in-law, were always compassionate and more like brothers to Martha. She met the love of her life, Angelo, and they were married in 1990. She was loved and welcomed by her new family, which included her father-in-law, Charles, mother-in-law, Mary, brothers-in-law, Frank and Mark, and her sisters-in-law, Maria and Christine. Their kindness and love were a gift in Martha’s life. She had 5 daughters and 2 stepsons: Mica Anton, Paula Grimsinger, Damiana Kniss, Tony Toscano, Marta Perez, Christopher Toscano, and Maria Polley. Her 5 sons-in-law, Tony Anton, David Grimsinger, Jason Kniss, Javier Perez, and Art, all had a gentle way with her, which made her feel cherished. A native San Diegan, she enjoyed sightseeing her city. She loved the beach and laying out in the warm sun. Her children enjoyed taking her out for these sightseeing adventures, or spending time with her at her home, catching up on the day’s events. Another of her favorite moments was spending time with and seeing pictures of her grandchildren: Javier Jr., Pablo, Damiana Jr., Amaya, Enzo, Genevieve, Cruz, Deja, Mason, Charley, Ryder, Jason Jr., Mia, Izzy, Emmy, Roman, and Raelynn, and her furry grandchildren, Hope, Paige, and Olive. She was a committed employee to Southland Envelope Company for 15 years. She made amazing, devoted friends there, who became her family. The love and generosity they brought her throughout her battle with colon cancer will always be remembered and greatly appreciated. There are no words to express the family’s immense gratitude to Southland and it’s employees. To those who knew her, Martha will be remembered for her bright eyes, playful mannerisms, and absolute love for her husband. While grateful that she is now at peace and no longer in pain, we regret that there was not more time to create memories.
