Mary Hull
April 28th, 1927 - December 29th, 2020
Mary Hull passed away at The Fountains of La Cholla on December 29, 2020. She was 93 years old. Mary was born in Santa Monica, CA. She graduated from Pomona College with a biology degree, working in genetic research at Cal Tech and later as a laboratory technologist at St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson. Mary was married to the late Herbert M Hull, Ph.D. for 60 years. They led a very active life enjoying swimming, hiking, reading, and gardening. They traveled the world, and visited most of the nation’s national parks. Mary was a dedicated volunteer including hosting foreign exchange students and their wives and was very active with Meals on Wheels. She was also active with 4H students teaching sewing and cooking. Mary was an enthusiastic member and fundraiser for college scholarships with PEO for over 60 years. She had many talents including gardening, entertaining and gourmet cooking. She loved camping and had an avid love for nature. She and Herbert were strong supporters of the National Parks, the Sierra Club, and biological research. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. James and Mary Mattison, brother Dr. James Mattison, Jr. and her husband Herber Hull, Ph.D. She is survived by her daughter Laurie Hull of Tucson, Dr. Daniel Hull (Janice) of San Diego, granddaughter Jennifer Hull (California), and grandson Dr. Jason Hull (Pennsylvania). Due to Covid, a formal memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a Charity of choice.
