Mary "Rowena" Peacock
May 5th, 1943 - January 14th, 2023
Mary Rowena Peacock (Rowena), 79, of HIlton Head Island, SC, passed away January 14, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Rowena was born on May 5, 1943, to Mary Addie and James Monroe Brown in Lewisburg, TN. A former pageant queen and accomplished systems analyst who worked her way to executive status at the National Science Foundation, Rowena was a unique combination of intelligence and beauty. She had a passion for her family, fashion, tennis, cooking, flowers, birds, crafting, antiques, and decorating. After retiring from the federal government, she and her husband, Dennis, relocated to their seaside dream home in Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island and enjoyed traveling and frequent visits from family. They were familiar faces at South Beach Racquet Club and The Salty Dog Cafe. She worked selflessly to make sure everyone else was cared for and happy. Rowena is preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters Judy Zimmerman, Patsy Whiteside, and Sherrie Comes. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Dennis Stanley Peacock, two daughters Traci Dawn Sincore and Tiffany Vasilik Dunn and sons-in-law Michael Daniel Sincore and Murray Alexander Dunn, two stepdaughters Caroline Peacock and Sarah Bladen and her husband Barry Bladen, and eight grandchildren including Stephanie Schuyler Carneal, George Alexander Carneal, Brooke Goodspeed Carneal, Addison Rowen Dunn, Amelie Lily Sydney Dunn, Connor Dalton O'Brien, Tyler Mathew O'Brien, Dylan Alan Bladen, and several nieces and a nephew. She will be missed terribly by all who knew and loved her.
