Mary Ruth Thomas
April 16th, 1960 - April 20th, 2015
Mary Ruth Thomas, age 55, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1985, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 in Colorado Springs. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a long time member of Colorado Springs Fellowship Church.Mary was born on April 16, 1960 in Fort Gaines, Georgia to Ben and Ada Maude (Brown) Ellis, Jr. She attended school in Fort Gaines and was a 1978 graduate of Clay County High School. She then moved to Macon, Georgia where she attended Crandal College. She married Christopher Thomas, Sr. on October 19, 1981 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. To their union was born two girls and a boy: Katrice L. Thomas and the twins, Tametria Anette Thomas and Christopher Thomas Jr. Mary was a wife and a dedicated and nurturing mother of her three children, where she lovingly embraced being the primary caregiver for Christopher. Mary also leaves to cherish her memory her father; her only sibling, her sister, Wanda Green of Georgia; and a host of family and friends from her home state. During her life, Mary was the owner of 3's, 4's and 5's Preschool childcare center for 15 years. She loved to work with kids and has inspired her own children to pursue similar career interests.The same dedication she exhibited in business was apparent in her walk with God. Mary was a faithful member of the Colorado Springs Fellowship Church for 13 years. Mary never missed a church service during her Christian walk and stewardship with the church up to and including the weekend before her death. Her consistent presence in God's house, in spite of her physical pain, will always be remembered as her personal testimony. She will be greatly missed by her pastor, Rose Banks and her entire church family. Mary enjoyed caring for others, shopping and gift giving. She will be best remembered for her loving kindness, generosity, perseverance, courage, strength and faithfulness.Visitation, 12:00PM-2:00PM, Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Colorado Springs Fellowship Church, 451 Windchime Place, Colorado Springs, Colorado followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00PM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
