Michael James "Butch" Battaglia, Jr; age 47, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Hong Kong April 30, 2015. Born in Gloversville, N.Y. he was the son of Michael Battaglia and the late Barbara Little Battaglia. Mike spent his early years in Meco, N.Y. and moved with his family to Port Leyden, N.Y. attending elementary school there. He moved back to Mayfield and graduated from Mayfield Central School in 1986. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in February 1987 serving aboard the USS Reeves as a cook home ported in Japan. After his discharge in 1990 he was employed at the former Fulton County Infirmary as a cook. He married Kan Po Yan "Alice" on December 12, 2010 at Mayfield, N.Y; moving to Hong Kong soon after. He loved working with wood and cabinet making, watching the Rams during football season and NASCAR races. Mike is survived by his wife Kan Po Yan of Hong Kong, father Michael Battaglia of Mayfield, a daughter Aishia Mica Mabutas of San Diego, CA, a sister Deborah Battaglia of Mayfield, a brother Joseph Battaglia of Gloversville, and two nephews Gregory and Nicholas Felter of Mayfield. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078
