Michael Warren Burks

Michael Burks, 37, of Gilbert, Arizona, was unexpectedly called home, to be with the Lord on November 1st, 2023. Michael was born September 16th, 1986, in Tucson, Arizona as the second son of William and Karla Burks. Those who knew Michael in childhood will fondly remember his charm and magnetic nature. He was a shining light in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Michael was always able to make the best of any situation. Through the trials placed before him, he was blessed with strength and carried by God through even the most difficult situations. Michael was a visionary; he was enterprising and adventurous. Every day Michael aimed to learn, grow, and embrace life. Michael will be remembered for his smile, loved ones will forever cherish the countless good times and laughs shared with him. Michael loved his family with all his heart. He was a treasured son, loyal brother, and loving father of two. Known for his congenial and benevolent spirit, Michael was passionate about helping anyone in need. Michael was preceded in death by his father, William “Junior” G. Burks III; grandfather, Freddie L. Cooper Jr., and grandmother, Mildred M. Cooper. Michael will live on in the hearts of his surviving loved ones: son, Averey J. Burks, and son, Michael W. Burks Jr., whom he shares with fiancée, Zoe Beasley; Mother, Karla L. Burks; brothers, Marcus A. Burks (Hope Nasser), Mitchell L. Burks, and Maurice L. Burks; grandparents, William G. Burks II. and Dorothy A. Burks; great-grandmother Elma F. Harrell, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. In celebration of Michael’s life and legacy, a limited viewing will be held on November 18th, 12-1:30 pm, immediately followed by a repast, location to be announced.
