Mike was born in Ft. Collins but grew up in Gunnison, Colorado. He was an active, very smart boy whose life centered around sports. In junior high he played football, basketball and Little League baseball. In high school he was on the track, baseball, basketball, and football teams. He learned to ski at age five and, in the winter, skied Crested Butte every weekend he could... when there wasn't a basketball game or practice. After high school he attended Colorado School of Mines on a football Scholarship, where he obtained his B. S. Degree in Mathematical Engineering. He went on to Greeley to get his teacher's Certificate, and after a year studied in Fort Collins, where he received his MBA. He tried several business opportunities and junior college teaching positions in the next several years, but really wanted to be a high school teacher... ever since his early days at Mines. He eventually ended up at Southwest Early College in Denver as one of its original teachers, where he taught math and science for the next eleven years. He met his wife, Therese, at a softball game one summer; they had been happily married almost 11 years. He has touched the lives of so many... words cannot say. He affected others with his wide grin and corny jokes; he loved to laugh and make others do the same. He was athletic and smart, yet humble. He was thoughtful, kind and generous. He was a loving husband, a wonderful son, a patient brother and uncle, a devoted teacher and mentor, and an avid golfer. He is looking down from Heaven right now with a smile on his face, in awe of all the wonderful love and support that everyone has given him. Rest In Peace, Mike. A Mike Edlin Scholarship Fund is being set up by the school. Donations in his memory can be made to: Southwest Early College, 3001 S. Federal Blvd., Denver, CO 80236
