Michael J. Lais

Mr. Michael J. Lais, 50, of Mergner Road, Fort Johnson died peacefully on February 4, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in Amsterdam, New York on September 1, 1965 he was the son of the late Richard Lais and Diane Greenbury Gargiulo. A lifelong area resident, Michael was a 1984 graduate of Fonda- Fultonville Central School. He went on to work as a journeyman for Brownell Steel before going to work for the Iron Workers Union. In 2014 he retired due to ill health. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his mother, Diane; daughter Cory L. Lais; sister, Pat Lais and her companion Brenda; grandmother, Ruth Lais; step mother Sandy Lais; and his step brother, Richie Knudson; and many cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 10a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1p.m. until 4p.m. at the funeral home.
