Muriel Keller
October 26th, 1922 - February 27th, 2011
Muriel May Kellar, affectionately known as Babe, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2011, in Cocoa Beach, FL. Babe was an “Army wife” for 33 years, following or meeting her beloved husband around the world as he served in the US Army. They were stationed in numerous locations during those years, including 3 years in Wurzburg, Germany. Babe was an outgoing Colonel’s wife, hosting endless functions and volunteering in many capacities, including as a Gray Lady in the hospitals. She played golf, bowled, enjoyed bridge and especially bingo, winning everything from a car to numerous jackpots over her career. Together she and her husband of 65 years, Bob, enjoyed 29 cruises during their retirement years in Florida. In her spare time, she raised 3 children and encouraged their participation in sports, dance, music and scouts. Babe was born Muriel May Foster on October 26, 1922 in Fort Edward, NY. She and Bob were raised in Watertown, NY, and attended Syracuse University. Babe had a generous and happy spirit and always a kind word for everyone. She will be sincerely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband; daughters Kathryn of Atlanta, GA, Karen and her husband LTC (Ret) Thomas B. Maertens, Jr, of Clemson, SC; son Robert S., Jr, and his wife Susan, of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren McKenna Maertens, Rochelle Kellar and Robert S. Kellar, III; and her sister, Ethel O’Connor of Hudson, FL. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011, at 1 pm at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach. The family requests that contributions in memory of Muriel be made to your favorite charity.
