Nancy Marie Ginder, 83, of Kingsport, entered into eternal rest on Monday March 11, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol. Nancy was born on May 12, 1935 in Galion, Ohio to the late James and Norma (Amann) Aukerman. As her father was a music director, they moved to various locations across the Midwest, including Kanawha Iowa where she attended Kanawha High School and graduated there in 1953. After graduation, she and her family relocated back to Galion OH where she met her husband of 62 years, James Ginder. Jim and Nancy raised their 4 girls there until Jim was transferred to Kingsport TN where they have lived for the past 40 years. Nancy worked for 20 years at Indian Path Medical Center as a nurse, until her retirement in 1994. She was a natural caregiver and loved taking care of her patients. Nancy was also active in her church community, St. Dominic’s Catholic Church where she served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed visiting homebound parishioners in the community. She loved her family and loved having her children and grandchildren around during family events and got much joy listening to their laughter and engaging in their funny stories. Her hobbies included sewing and crocheting, she loved making dish cloths and giving them away to family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 62 years, James, “Jim” Ginder; her children, Terri Ginder and significant other, Hank Kamm of Port Charlotte, Florida, Marty Thomas and husband Alex of Morristown Tennessee, Becky Lewis and husband Tim of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jill White of Kingsport Tennessee; grandchildren Adam Thomas and wife Meagan, Allison Thomas, and James White and wife Amanda; beloved sister Jessie Ann Poncin and husband Nate of Galt, Iowa along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended friends and family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Indian Path Hospital, Holston Valley Medical Center, Select Specialty Hospital of Bristol and Fresenius Dialysis center of Kingsport for their loving care. A special thanks also goes out to their church family at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, including pastor Father Michael Cummins for his spiritual guidance and support. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Kingsport TN on Saturday, March 16 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association. Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport is serving the Ginder family.
