Greenlawn Memorial Park
Oscar Earl Bass, IV
July 13th, 1995 - August 3rd, 2018
Oscar Earle Bass, IV, age 23, began his journey onto the next life early Friday morning on August 3rd, 2018. From his birth on July 13th, 1995 in Columbia, South Carolina, until his passing, he touched and left his mark on many souls, not only emotionally with his kind heart, but physically with his prowess in tattooing. Oscar was born to Aimee Louise Brown and Oscar Earle Bass, III and raised by Susan Watkins Brown and Marion Grist Brown, Sr. The youngest of three children to grow up in Forest Acres along with his loving older sister, Lindsay Elizabeth Brown, and wonderful uncle, Marion "Rion" Grist Brown, Jr., who was also the best older brother imaginable. Oscar was predeceased by his mother, Aimee Louise Brown and his father; and grandfather, Marion Grist Brown, Sr. Oscar is survived by his beautiful daughter, Aimee Elizabeth Elaine Sellers; his father, Oscar Earle Bass, III; his brother, Marion Grist Brown, Jr.; his sister, Lindsay Elizabeth Brown; his mother, Susan Watkins Brown; and countless family members as well as many many friends he considered close family. He had a way of easily capturing hearts with his adventurous personality and uplifting spirit. When Oscar was around he made it impossible to not laugh and be joyful by always selfishlessly putting the happiness of others first; he was too wholesome and caring for this world. Fortunately not only will he be remembered for his unique and loving soul but also by the creativity shown in his passion for tattooing. He worked hard for many years and with each piece of art he completed the shine of his confidence would brighten. If Oscar wasn't hard at work with a new art project or cracking jokes over game of monopoly, he was out and about with friends popping 360s on his skateboard where he probably shouldn't have been. That's exactly how Oscar would like to be remembered, enjoying himself cruising through life on a wooden deck and honing his artistic abilities. A ceremony in remembrance of Oscar's life will be held at Thompson's Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Friday, August 10th, at 5:00 p.m. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.thompsonsfuneral.com.

We Entrusted Oscar Bass, IV's Care To
Greenlawn Memorial Park
Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
