Ottaviano "“Tom”/“Tovi”/“Otto”" Butera
January 10th, 1930 - September 10th, 2020
Ottaviano, Butera “Tom”/“Tovi”/“Otto” 90 years old of New Port Richey, FLorida passed away on September 10, 2020 at Medical Center of Trinity. Tom was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, he and his wife of 67 years moved to Florida in 1976. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Calogero and Grazia (née Asarese) Butera and the late Eda (née Umile) Butera; and his siblings, Angelo (late Mary), Sam (late Arlene), Mary (late Louis) Guzzetta; also survived by his wife Rose (née DeFazio), his daughters Grace Forrester (husband Jerry), Josephine Cultrara (husband Tom); grandchildren John Baker, Rose Detorre (Rafael); Michelle Shaddle, and Christina Cultrara; great grandchildren John Baker, Emma Baker, Sterling Shaddle, and Tommy Shaddle; step grandchildren Heather (Johnny) Foster and family, Kristin (Patrick) Smith and family, brother Leo (Sharon), sister Grace Hughes (David), several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Tom loved dogs and cherished the memories of Boomer a German Schnauzer. Tom loved his family and friends, he and Rose hosted many family parties at their home. Tom and Rose were usually always together; it was very rare to see them without each in public. Tom was a hard worker, one who paid close attention to details and was very organized. He persevered through many health challenges. Tom was a Army veteran and served as a cook during the Korean War. In Tom’s younger years he loved to dance and play and coached baseball and soccer. He would watch his favorite-sporting events whenever he got the opportunity, which included football, hockey, and local baseball. Tom was a man dedicated to his faith and served their church in the book store. He lived a long life and will be missed by all who knew him. Loyal is a key word that can be used to describe the life of Ottaviano Butera. Most of all, he was loyal to God and his family. In Florida, Tom’s celebration of life Christian service will be Saturday, September 19, 2020 2-4pm in Florida on line and an option to attend the service at: Reese’s Funeral Home 6767 Seminole Blvd. Seminole, FL Note: A mask is required and social distancing. In New York, a Christian burial service will be held on September 25, at 10am at: Baron-Miller Funeral Home 3025 William St. Cheektowaga, NY Graveside service - Pine Lawn Cemetery In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made to Rose Butera his devoted wife.
