RAY, Raka 87 of Tampa passed away peacefully on February 8, 2014 to join her loving husband who was deceased since 1972. She was born on December 20, 1926 in Muktagacha, Mymensingh, East Bengal into the renowned Acharya Chaudhury family. She was married to Lt Col P.C. Ray of the Indian Army Medical Corps for 26 years and lived in Bombay, Poona and New Delhi, India. She was widowed at the age of 46. Raka lived in Tampa, Florida since 1994. She was beloved by the Bengali community of Florida for her generous and joyous spirit. Raka was a writer and a poet in addition to being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grand mother. She is survived by her daughters Swati Ray Bose of Tampa and Brita Ray Chakrabarti of Pittsburgh, son-in-law Alok Kumar Bose and son Dr. Tapan Ray, daughter-in-law Arati Ray, grandsons Arjo K. Bose, Rahul Bose, Rajan K. Bose, Shonket Chakrabarti and Gaurav Ray, and great grand children Kiran Chakrabarti, Navin Chakrabarti and Diya Ray. Rest in peace dearest Ma.
