Roy Lee Anderson

Roy L Anderson, "Reverend Roy", went to rest in Jesus's arms 2/28/16. Born 4/3/1938 in Jonestown, Mississippi, to Clarence B. Anderson and Cara Edwards Brown Anderson. He is survived by his loving companion and wife of 27 years, Glenda A Anderson; sons Roy L Anderson Jr aka Lee of Bentonville, AR; Thomas B Anderson MD of Topeka KS; John B Anderson of Carmel, IN; Scot A Slater of St Petersburg, FL; daughter Cara Elizabeth Butler aka Liz of Carmel, IN; nephew and well known Mississippi artist, Rick Anderson; and 12 grandchildren. He graduated Clarksdale High School in 1956; ordained in Riverside Baptist Church of Clarksdale, MS, 1957; Mississippi College with a BA in 1960; Southwestern Theological Seminary of Dallas, TX, with a Masters of Divinity and Masters of Religious Education in 1965. He was a long term resident of Indianapolis, IN where he worked as a minister and Nursing Home Administrator until he tired of the weather. He then moved to St Petersburg, FL in 1994. There he pursued a career of counseling in funerary services and worked with perpetrators of domestic violence. He leaves a legacy of compassion and graciousness in all things. A service will be set in the near future.
