Frances, lovingly known as G-Mom to her family, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on Thursday, March 18, 2021. She dedicated her life to service of others to include her family, her church and her community. She was happiest when she was in her gazebo entertaining family, neighbors and friends. She graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and remained active planning and organizing class reunions and gatherings. She got her Nursing Degree from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She was an active member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church where she participated in women’s groups, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the handbell choir for 34 years. Frances worked in many capacities as a nurse over her lifetime, to include the VA Hospital and many years at Lexington Health Department. She was one of the first group of Registered Nurses hired at Lexington Medical Center in 1971. She was the daughter of Ruby Hendrix Hook and John Manning Hook, Sr. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, George Drafts, her children Rachel Drafts Crapps, Roger E. Drafts (Nelle), Rebecca Drafts Thaw (Jamey) and Ryan G. Drafts (Beth); grandchildren Manning Crapps (Katie), Jordan Crapps (Morgan), and Lauren Owens (Will), Jessica and Brian Drafts, Jillian and Olivia Thaw, Colin, Pryce, Mason-Kate, Maddox, Maryn and Chapman Drafts; and great grandchildren Ellison and Luke Crapps; her sisters, Jeanette Carter, Sue Drafts, Kay Black and June Kaigler. She is predeceased by her brothers, John Manning Hook, Jr, Edwin Hook and her sister Elizabeth Caughman, and many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to Amedisys Hospice, especially Lee, Jacob and Karen for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt Hebron United Methodist Building Fund and the Lexington Medical Center Foundation.
