A Life Tribute Funeral Care - Largo
Sara Fassett Schumann
August 4th, 1939 - April 4th, 2018
Sara Barter Schumann, formerly Sara Veghte, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 4, 2018. Sara was a teacher, mother, wife, and grandmother. The loving daughter of Fran and Marian Barter, she was born and raised in Gloversville, NY. In high school she enjoyed English literature and being a Gloversville Huskies cheerleader. She went on to study English and history at the University of Rochester, an institution she revered throughout her life. She became a teacher in Buffalo, New York. She moved to Clearwater in 1969 and spent the rest of her life here. She was a proud member of the Junior League and a devoted mother to her three children, in whom she instilled a love of reading, learning, and piano. Her children all have fond memories of daily trips to the beach in the summertime, and to a home that was always open to their friends, for several of whom she was a second mother. Sara loved teaching, cooking for her family, going to the beach with her husband and every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Sara will be lovingly remembered by her husband, John Schumann; her daughter, Laura Veghte Hansen (Adam Hansen); her two sons, Andrew Veghte (Debera Hui) and Benjamin Veghte (Heather Davis); her former husband, Bruce Veghte; and her four grandchildren, Allison Hansen, Drew Hansen, Aidan Veghte, and Jules Veghte. Sara's memorial service will be held Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 10:00am at A Life Tribute Funeral Care, 716 Seminole Boulevard, Largo, FL 33770. Memorial donations may be made to the University of Rochester in honor of Sara Barter Schumann
