Sonja D. Cionek, 82, of Perth, NY died peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. Born in Amsterdam, New York on August 26, 1932 in Amsterdam, New York she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Elizabeth LaGrange. A lifelong area resident, Sonja attended local schools and worked at various companies and factories. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Cionek; her aunt, Peg Torsiello; her sister, Joan Conti; a son, Andrew Cionek; and her granddaughter in law, Meghan Cionek. Survivors include her sons, Gregory Cionek (Cindy Adamkowski), Timothy Cionek and Thomas (Diana) Cionek; siblings, Leonard LaGrange, Carol Korona, Patty Bujanowski, Charlotte Valkonis and Bernadette Traszkos; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Sonja will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 12 noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the funeral beginning at 11a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
