Stephen Edward Bowdish
August 14th, 1939 - September 8th, 2016
Stephen Edward Bowdish, 77, passed away September 8, 2016 in Lacey, Washington, his home for 40 years. He was born August 14, 1939 to Melvin and Stella Bowdish in Bremerton, Washington. In 1994, he moved to Lacey from Kirkland, Washington. He married Vicky Marie Schoenmaker on May 28, 1966, and they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year. Steve served in the Army and National Guard (1958-1999) and proudly retired with 41 years of service. A highlight of his career was serving in rescue operations after the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens. He retired from the National Guard as a SFC helicopter mechanic. Steve graduated from South Puget Sound Community College. Steve never lost his sense of humor. He loved his family and his pets. He enjoyed fishing at Sekiu, always hoping for the record salmon, and camping in his RV. His favorite car is a Corvette and he finally owned one in recent years. Steve liked to build model airplanes, and in earlier years, raced his ’65 Chevelle at SIR. His pastime was spent watching TV and movies, and of course, he was passionate about the Seahawks. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Bowdish; daughters, Kristie Wilson (Shaun) of Lacey, Lori Dye (Chuck) of Seattle, and Melanie Bowdish of Lacey; grandchildren, Tyler Clark (Dannie), Cody Clark (Kylee) and Maija Hollingbery; great grandson, Fisher Clark; and sister, Dale Lutes of Antioch, California. Please leave memories of Steve or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
