Stephen Lingley
April 20th, 1961 - June 22nd, 2020
Stephen Lingley, 59, passed away on June 22, 2020. Stephen was a beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Venice, Florida lost a valuable pillar of the community. Stephen served his community in multiple ways, he was an active Sertoma member, a loving and caring foster parent, very involved with the Boys and Girls Club, fundraising and volunteering. Stephen always pursued any and every way to utilize his skills and talents to serve his community, which lead to him successfully earning 3 degrees over the course of his life. Stephen accomplished so much in his life, starting with proudly serving and retiring from the United States Army as a Commissioned Officer. He then continued to build and launch a very successful career in real estate and was truly a Renaissance man and a Jack of all trades. He was always striving to increase his knowledge and be the best at what he was doing. Most importantly, Stephen made such an astonishing impact on so many people at a personal level. He had the ability to immediately befriend any stranger. He was a social landmark in Venice. He was extremely influential in helping the livelihoods of businesses and people in our community. Stephen made certain that his family was his main priority. He is survived by his soulmate, business partner, and best friend, Kimberly Wear Lingley. She was the love of his life. The two were the epitome of a power couple who adored their kids, parents, and community. She was able to fill his heart with so much love and joy. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Wear Lingley; parents, William and Leona (Terrell) Lingley; brother, Troy Lingley; Sister, Kim (Lingley) Bregenzer; daughters, Stephanie and Amanda Gergans; son, Seanie Gergans. Stephen was called to join other family members in heaven. He is preceded in death by his infant brother, Randall Lingley; paternal grandparents, Louis and Doris Lingley; maternal grandparents, Logan and Julia Terrell. The family is requesting that everyone leave their favorite pictures with Stephen and/or write out their favorite memories of him. (i.e. how you met, adventures, funny stories, etc.) on the online obituary. For those that are wanting to leave a handwritten note or photograph, there will be a special memorial box at Farley Funeral Home for you to place your special memories inside of. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warriors Foundation (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org) or the Sertoma Speech Clinic. Both foundations were dear to his heart, and the family wishes to continue his legacy and kind spirit. A private interment service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
