Stephen L. Mather

Steve Mather, a long time Richfield resident, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 30th, 2021 at the age of 69. Stephen Lee Mather was born on May 2nd, 1952, to his parents LeRoy and Yvonne Mather (Ohnsorg) of Shakopee, MN. On July 29th, 1978, Steve married Heidi Venema and later welcomed their son Sam in September 1987. Steve graduated from Shakopee High School, attended Normandale Community college, was president of the community college, received his undergrad and Master’s degree at the University of Minnesota. He later worked at Reell, Arkray, Minnesota Wire and Cable and made many friends and colleagues along the way. Steve loved spending time outdoors whether it was at his hunting land, fishing up north, watching the kids play sports or throwing the ball for his dogs. He was a member of Cedar Valley Church and was a very active volunteer there up until recent years. Steve is survived by his wife Heidi Venema, his son Sam (Cassie) Mather, his grandkids Macy, Max and Mason. His siblings Gwen (Gary) Solseth, Pam (Brian) Sunder, Tim (Kira Dubrovsky) Mather, many nieces and nephews, family and friends. He was greeted in Heaven by his parents Lee and Bonnie Mather. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Cedar Valley Church, 8600 Bloomington Avenue South, Bloomington, MN 55425. Visitation from 10 - 11AM. Memorial Service at 11AM
