Susan M. Van Der Veer, 58, of Fonda passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Albany Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Amsterdam, NY on July 31, 1955, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret "Peg" Lis Babrow. Sue was a life time resident of the area and a graduate of the Bishop Scully High School. She went on to work at Fownes Leather Factory for over thirty years. She was also most recently employed by the former Mt. Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam as a Unite Clerk. She enjoyed playing computer games, gardening and spending time with friends and family around a camp fire. Sue loved her family and deeply missed her sister Peggy Lee and mother Peg, and is now reunited with them in heaven. Survivors include her loving children, Sean Van Der Veer of Fort Hunter and Katlyn Erik Van Der Veer- Brown of Fonda, NY. Her father Joseph Babrow of Amsterdam, sisters Mary Beth Arminio and Sharon Merendo along with nieces, Alicia Arminio, Ashely Arminio Gabby Ruggeri, Rita Van Der Veer, Anna Clizbe and nephew Tyler Ruggeri. Great nieces Kristianna and Isabella Cowan and great nephew Brad Columbus also survive. Sue also leaves behind special friends, Miriam Paragoris and Violet Orscian. She is also survived by her former husband Danny Van Der Veer. Family and friends are invited to a service of remembrance on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 1PM at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam NY 12010. Rev. John Medwid as celebrant.
