Stokesdale-Tom Vasko, 70, went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2014 as he was surrounded by his wife and children. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Louis Canino, OFM officiating. A native of Lockport, New York, Tom was the son of the late Marjorie M. Greene and Thomas Richard Vasko, Sr. He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. He served his country during the Vietnam War as a Staff Sgt. with the US Army. He had worked with Occidental Petroleum Corporation, Chevron Phillips, and ChillCo Inc. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Tom loved spending time with his grandkids, whom he absolutely cherished. He was best known for riding his John Deere Tractor in his neighborhood, visiting and helping his neighbors. Tom loved being outdoors and took great pride in his yard and garden. Tom also had a strong love for his country and was always grateful for the men and women who serve. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years Rosemary Orsini Vasko of the home; daughters Michelle Vasko-Sparks and Evan of New Orleans, LA and Tara Cassetty and Eric of Stokesdale; sons Tommy Vasko, III and Amy of Wyandotte, MI and Andrew Vasko of Stokesdale; grandchildren Madeline, Carson Thomas, Cal, Gabe, and Emmett; and his sister-in-law Donna Crane and Carl. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to Mass at the church on Monday.
