BABB, Wendell Todd, passed away July 20, 2016, in Tucson. Memorial Service will be held on August 12, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Adair Avalon Chapel. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana. Wendell was born on February 11, 1925, in Montrose, California to Harry Leroy and Cornelia Hunt Babb. He was the youngest of 7 and later had two more siblings, a half sister and half brother, so the family grew to 9 children. His only surviving sibling is Lucille Bland. Wendell was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Maria Scarano. He was a devoted husband and involved Dad. They had four children, Cynthia Johnson (Sam), Vincent Babb (Diane), Harold Babb, and Wendell Babb, Jr. (Sonia). He loved coaching the boys in baseball. Wendell was also preceded by his wife of 23 years, Kathryn Marcelene McNeal. He worked for the bus line, Helms Bakery and eventually he went into the tile trade. His talent was in mosaic tile, expansive floors and walls on commercial buildings. He won many awards for his work. His hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, writing short stories, working on his mobile home park, and participating with his children and grandchildren in their school and sporting events. He was a member of VFW, Elks Club, Lions Club, Eagles Club, and a Tucson Mall walker. Wendell and Maria moved to Arizona in 1980 to be closer to his daughter and grandsons. Eventually two of his sons moved to Arizona to be closer to their Dad. He received great joy from his 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Wendell was an avid Wildcats fan! We are accepting donations for a Memorial Tile at the University Of Arizona Legacy Lane, which will be installed in December. Checks can be sent to Cynthia Johnson.
