William Augustus Boleman (Bill) went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2021. Bill was born to Webster and Louise Boleman on May 19, 1926 in Spartanburg, SC. Bill is preceded in death by his beloved siblings, Mary Louise Hough, Essie Todd Boyd, Webster Kenneth Boleman, and Wilfred Boleman. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Catherine Boleman; his children, Dr. William Todd Boleman of Atlanta, GA, Mary Catherine Lankford (Steven) of Charleston, SC, and Leslie Jeffcoat (Joey) of Lexington, SC; and his seven grandchildren, Sydney Todd Boleman, Sarah Jane Boleman, William Samuel Boleman, Harrison James Lankford, Eliza Jane Lankford, Cameron Vastine Jeffcoat, and Miranda Renee Jeffcoat. Bill Boleman was an active member of Edwards Memorial Presbyterian Church (ARP) where he served in a variety of roles. Bill lived a life of service. He loved God, his family, and supporting his grandchildren’s activities. His family will always treasure their memories of him playing guitar, banjo, and harmonica. He very much enjoyed spending time with his family on their vacations and camping trips to the beach and mountains. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and used his GI Bill to attend USC from which he graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Bill was a lifelong Gamecock fan as a result of his time at USC. Bill spent his career as a bridge engineer for the South Carolina Highway Department. After retirement, he volunteered with God’s Helping Hands in Cayce for more than two decades. He retired from that important work at the age of 90. One of his many joys in life was sitting with his wife on the porch that he built and watching the birds in their backyard. A service will be held for him at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 2:00pm with visitation beginning at 1:00pm. A committal service will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park.
