William "Bill" Ingram

William “Bill” H. Ingram, 87, of Puyallup, WA passed away at 2:12PM on Thursday, March 15, 2018 peacefully in his home. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 14th at 3 P.M., in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Parkland, WA. With Pastor Jeffery Gaustad officiating. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on March 11, 1931 he was the son of George W. H. Ingram and Jane Elizabeth (Bingler) Ingram. He was married to Mary Katherine McKelvey on November 17, 1960 in Front Royal, VA. She survives along with three sons Richard (Cathy), William Jr. (Roberta), Andrew (Angela), seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, youngest and infant son, Timothy, in 1966 and his younger sister, Mary Jane “Midge” Smith in 2006. After graduating High School, Bill went to work at J & L Steel Corp. in 1952. In 1967 he moved his family to Illinois for an opportunity to work at a start-up, finishing mill in Hennepin. Rising from the Research Lab to a position as a machinist he ascended to Superintendent of Maintenance before retiring from Hennipen Works in 1985. After a stint in Nashville, TN he started M.K. McKelvey Consulting Firm from which he employed retired steel workers back into the mills. Residing in Palmetto, Florida, at the age of 70, and after 15 years of successful business he closed M.K. McKelvey and retired, for good this time. After spending ten more years enjoying their retirement in sunny Palmetto, he and Mary returned for the security, familiarity and friendships in Henry, IL and later nearer to family in Seattle. Bill’s greatest legacy was not his success in industry and business but the love he poured into his family. He was a loyal, loving husband to Mary for 58 years. He protected and provided for his family and instilled in his boys the importance of education and hard work. While his sons were still growing, he could often be seen leaning on a fence at a big track meet and, home or away, he never missed a basketball game. His greatest goal was that he prepare his boys to meet the challenges the world would have for them. A Longtime member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, he was a charitable man who shared much with many. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
