Deron L. Mcgee

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Deron “Deej” McGee, beloved son, brother, nephew and grandson away on August 15, 2024, at 15 years young. 

Deej was born on November 12, 2018 , in Syracuse New York to Natasha Huertas and Deron McGee. Deej cherished his siblings Argeniz Martinez (Aj), Dereon McGee. Deej is survived by his parents and siblings, along with his grandparents Dorthy Bednarek- Huertas, Eduardo Huertas, Aunts Mayra Arocho, Jessica Huertas, Tanisha Huertas and uncle Eduardo Huertas Jr and several cousins. 

Deej was an 11th grader at Cocoran High School, filled with much life and love. Deej could light up any room he walked into. His smile was generous, and his hugs were comforting. Deej’s vibrant spirit was a source of joy for all who knew him. His laughter left an indelible mark on our hearts.

He was a funny young man who loved his family and was passionate about his relationship with his mother and brothers. He was the middle child but often took the lead on being the “older brother”. Deej spent so much time with his cousin, whether summers at Lourdes Camp or winter vacations traveling to Florida. Deej liked riding bikes and four-wheelers, jumping in the pool, and spending time with his loved ones.

Deej’s calling hours will be from 4:00PM- 7:00PM on Thursday August 29, 2024 at A. Dewitt Memorial Funeral Home,  4612 S. Salina St. Syracuse. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 9:30AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Syracuse at 927 Park Ave. Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery. 

A celebration of Deej’s life will be held on Friday, August 30,2024 at Playmakers Sports Bar.
