Gregory C. Brown

Gregory Charles Brown Sr., 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. Gregory loved playing chess with friends and family and was a devoted fan of the New York Jets.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lettise Brown; his father, Benjamin Brown; his sister, Emma Jean Whittaker; his brother, Michael Brown; and his daughter, Cherese Brown Pringle.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Melissa Glover of Elmira, New York, Barbara (Leilani) Brown of Columbia, South Carolina, and Regina Brown of Syracuse, New York; his sons, Gregory C. Brown of Binghamton, New York, and Tykel Brown of Syracuse, New York.

He is also survived by his sisters, Deborah Whitley and Wanda Brown of Atlanta, Georgia, and Cheryl Brown of Syracuse, New York; his brothers, Willie Brown and Allen Whittaker of Syracuse, New York, Benjamin Brown Jr. of Alabama, Jefell Brown of Buffalo, New York, Darnell Brown of Texas, Vincent Knight of Atlanta, Georgia, and Terry Mott, Tony Knight, and Jeffery Knight, all of Syracuse, New York.

Gregory also leaves behind a special niece, Sontia Williams; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Calling Hours will be held from 10AM to 12PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Bread of Life Church of God in Christ.  Services will begin at 12PM.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse.
