Gary Alfred Goyette

August 7, 1957 — May 27, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Alfred Goyette, a man of boundless love, compassion, and humor. Gary was born on August 7, 1957 and passed peacefully in his home by the ocean in Clearwater, Florida on May 27, 2026. Born and raised in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, he graduated from Woonsocket High School. He went on to be an Iron Worker, working on Iconic landmarks such as Gillette Stadium and the Boston Convention Center, always leaving his daughter’s name written somewhere in the scaffolding.

He was the son of the late Alfred Goyette, and is survived by his daughter Laurissa Goyette, his loving mother Lucille Goyette, his brother Brian Goyette, his sister Lisa Kayarian, his brother-in-law James Kayarian, and his nieces and nephew Emma, Ava, and Evan Kayarian.

Gary was the embodiment of kindness, generosity, understanding, forgiveness, and unwavering perseverance in any situation. He loved all things sports, from football to golf to Wii bowling in its prime. He loved kayaking, fishing, and the ocean, anything on the water brought him peace. He loved anyone, human or animal, and would often go out of his way to help both, regardless of convenience. He loved adventure, traveling, and adrenaline, always on or recapping an epic quest, whether it was sky diving, snorkeling, or reeling in a 500 pound swordfish while deep sea fishing.

Another of his beloved hobbies was watching old films with his mother Lucille and reminiscing on actors they were fond of, often spending hours laughing into the night over shared memories.

But most of all, Gary loved his daughter, and her dog Mika, lovingly referred to as Mika-san and Miks, and was loved fiercely in return by both. As a single father, he gave his daughter the world, always going above and beyond to provide anything and everything she could need or want. His love for his daughter was all-encompassing and unconditional, with his entire heart and soul. His legacy will be remembered and honored every moment of every day through her love of the ocean, animals, and adventure.

Gary was the first person in any room to see the glass half full, or to see the silver lining in a seemingly impossible situation. He was the first to offer comfort or compassion to anyone he felt needed it. He was a beacon of light and love, and that beacon will shine impossibly bright for the rest of time.

His daughter asks that to honor his memory, in lieu of flowers, that his loved ones all just love a little extra from now on. Hug your children, hug your parents, call your friends, give up a seat on a train to someone who needs it, give a smile to a passing stranger, go to the beach and enjoy the day, just embody Gary in any way that you can.

There will be a private Celebration of Life with a small circle of his loved ones in the way he would have wanted, on the water with Jimmy Buffett playing and fond memories told under the Florida sunshine.
