Richard T. Sanford

July 28, 1940 — May 19, 2026

Richard T. Sanford, of Seminole, FL, formerly of Nashua and Londonderry, NH, passed away on May 19, 2026, after a brief illness.

Richard Thomas Sanford was born on July 28, 1940, to his parents, Virginia and Lloyd Sanford in Passaic, New Jersey, the oldest of four children, and only son.

Richard graduated from Rutherford High School in 1958 and then Rutgers University. He started his career at NBC Studios in New York City, in camera production. He then worked as a sales executive in the audio-visual technology field for several decades. After retiring from Boentronics, he enjoyed working part-time in a community service role as a school bus driver for the Nashua, NH public school system, driving students to their team games, as well as field trips to the Christa McCauliffe Planetarium and the Seacoast Science Center. He was honored to be selected as a field trip bus driver for children who had survived Chernobyl, as part of a medical treatment and cultural exchange program in the Greater Boston area.

Upon retiring to Seminole, Florida, with his wife, Diana Sanford, he volunteered as a Safe Driver instructor for the AAA and as a board member for their condo association. He also cherished the weekly Saturday morning men’s gathering, where he enjoyed many friendships and donuts. His lifelong interests were classical music, photography, technology, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife, Diana; his three sisters, Geraldine Parsons of Clearwater, Florida; Mary (Penny) Ligouri and her husband, Albert, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and Nancy Sanford of Largo, Florida; his daughters Allison Souza of Londonderry, NH, and Meredith Fowler and her husband Greg of Bedford, NH; granddaughters Marissa Ciano and Emily Souza; stepdaughter Christine Herter Warren and husband Douglas of Burlington, MA, and granddaughter Julia Warren; and niece Lindsey Ligouri. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ronald Parsons; and nephew, Michael Ligouri.

Services will be held later this summer in Nashua, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ACPMP Research Foundation.
