Roelof Peter Viskil

Roelof Peter Viskil Sr., 69, of Largo, FL, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son.

Born in The Hague, Netherlands, Roelof spent most of his life in the United States and resided in Largo, FL, at the time of his passing. He is survived by his Best Friend, Loving Wife, Soulmate, and ‘His Person’ of 36 years, PJ Jones Viskil; his children, daughter Elsje Jane Viskil and sons Roelof Peter Viskil Jr, (Jessie), and Cameron Hendrik Viskil. All of whom were his beloved treasures.

He is also survived by his siblings: Hendrik Viskil, Elisabeth Viskil Norman (Mike), and Jack Henry Viskil Jr., as well as many extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Henry Viskil Sr. (Riet) and his mother, Aagje Franken.

Roelof retired from American Airlines after 37 years of dedicated service. His career took him from Birmingham, AL -where it all began- to Richmond, VA, Memphis, TN, and finally Tampa, FL, where he retired. Over the years, he held numerous roles: Ramp Agent, Customer Service Agent, Supervisor, Customer Service Manager, Operations Agent, and Passenger Service Agent. He took great pride in his work and was known for his warmth, professionalism, and the many friendships he built along the way. 

He was truly a wonderful person, always finding joy in helping others and bringing happiness to those around him. Everyone who knew him seems to carry warm and fond memories of the time they spent together. He always left you remembering his friendly smile! Besides his wife and kids, his passions were fishing, wood working, traveling and spending time at the beach. 

There will be no memorial or celebration ceremony as per his wishes; he wanted to be remembered by each of you for the time you shared with him instead. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer to receive your favorite photos with him. If you don’t have one, a photo of yourself for the memorial book would be appreciated.
