James D. Wiggins
September 1, 1929 — April 20, 2017
Life Story
James Devere Wiggins, 87 of Kuna, ID formerly of Cambridge, ID passed on April 20, 2017 in Meridian, ID. He was born September 1, 1929 at Weiser, ID to Earl and Alice (Stephens) Wiggins. Jim had two brothers: Donald and Lyle and one sister Linda. He attended school at Central Mesa, ID and received his Eighth Grade Diploma in May of 1944.
Jim was drafted into the Army and entered service January of 1951. While in the Army he attained the rank of Corporal and was assigned to the 6th Army while stationed in Germany. He served as a tank crewman and his duty assignment was Tank Commander in the 110th Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Army of Occupation Service Metal.
After the Army, Jim went to work on the family ranch on Seid Creek near Cambridge, ID. Jim greatly enjoyed all parts of ranching but particularly loved horses. Jim married Eva May Hubbard and together they had three children: Neal, Bret and Ann. Jim and Eva later divorced. He loved the outdoors and passed on his love of hunting and fishing to his sons. When the ranch was sold, Jim bought the Farm Service Feed Store in Cambridge and ran it until he retired.
In 2003, Jim moved to assisted living in Kuna after his dementia made it unsafe for him to live alone.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother Lyle, and daughter Ann. He is survived by his brother Don Wiggins; and sister Linda Walker; sons: Neal Wiggins and wife Heather and Bret Wiggins and wife Bobbie; and grandchildren: Wesley, Hannah, Ellie, and Grace; all of Kuna.
Memorial Services to honor Jim will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday April 29, 2017 at Ten Mile Community Church, 4440 E. Columbia Road Meridian, Idaho 83642 and be officiated by Pastor Mark Canady. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. Inurnment will take place at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise at a later date. The family takes great comfort in the fact that Jim entered into heaven for eternity because he accepted Jesus as his personal savior.
