Joanne Pogue Turner September 17, 1942 - September 3, 2023, a native of Prattville, Alabama died peacefully in her sleep at home in Meridian, Idaho. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Denny Turner of Meridian, Idaho, son Kenneth Turner (Nancie) of Meridian, Idaho, two sons in Alabama, Jeff Turner (Amy) and Reggie Turner, granddaughter Kelli Hollon of Meridian, Idaho, two granddaughters in Alabama, Elizabeth and Sara , a grandson, Andrew “Mason” McCartney, also of Alabama a grandson, Brandon Turner in Anchorage, Alaska, and a grandson Braden Groom (Lea) of Texas, and multiple great grandchildren. Joanne is also survived by her cousin Janis Lowther of Alabama who is more like another sister since they grew up in the same household. She is survived by dozens of nieces and nephews including great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Donna Jo, daughter Julie Hollon, her parents (Evie Katherine Pogue née Booth, and James Emmett Pogue), five brothers (Alvin, Buddy, Carl, Wesley, and Frankie), five sisters (Louise, Betty, Maudine, Peggy, and Shirley).
Joanne had a large family. She lived longer than her parents or her many siblings. She was loved by friends and family. We are confident that she is safe in the loving arms of God with her daughters, parents, and siblings.
There will be a memorial service in Alabama, time and location to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The American Kidney Fund, kidneyfund.org
