Lois I. Huber
April 4, 1957 — April 11, 2026
Lois Irene Huber April 4, 1957 – April 11, 2026
Lois Irene Huber, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 69, after years of health challenges that she faced with quiet strength until the end. She was born on April 4, 1957, in Emmett, Idaho, to Keith Eugene Anderson and Marianne (Ritter) Anderson. She was the youngest of four girls and had one younger brother.
Lois grew up in Emmett. Her early years were not without challenges, as her parents divorced when she was very young, and she didn’t always have a safe place to land. She and her siblings learned resilience early in life, something that stayed with her always. Those experiences helped shape her determination and the importance she placed on family and creating a warm, loving home.
She was very active during her school years, participating in band, student council, and other student activities, and graduated from Emmett High School in 1975. After high school, she attended Boise State University, where she earned her Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology before beginning her career at St. Luke’s in the cardiac catheterization lab.
On April 8, 1978, Lois married the man she shared her life with, Rod Huber. Together, they built a life centered on hard work, love, and unwavering support for one another and their three children, Ashlee, Ryan, and Ali. Lois never missed a dance performance or a soccer game. She traveled to every tournament and every competition. She showed up for her kids - and later her grandkids - until her body and mind no longer could. Her family was her greatest joy, and her love for the Lord was at the center of everything she did for them.
Lois dedicated much of her professional life to caring for others. She worked for 23½ years as an X-ray technician in the cardiac catheterization lab at St. Luke’s before leaving in October 2001. Always eager to keep learning and growing, Lois went back to school in 2003, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology and an Associate’s degree in Nursing. She later continued her work at Southwest Idaho Ear, Nose, and Throat until her health declined and she entered retirement.
Lois lived life with energy, creativity, and joy. She sewed her own clothes as a young girl, including her high school formal dresses, and as an adult created everything from baby clothes to Halloween costumes and dance team flags. She played the piano both at home and at church and spent many years playing at Holy Apostles Life Teen Masses. Music was always part of her life - whether in the car or at home - especially country music, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. And when it came to Christmas music, the earlier the better.
She loved boating and spending time in McCall, sitting on the deck at the cabin (or anywhere, really) with Jeff and Peggy Reed, watching three generations of friendships continue to have fun and get into mischief. Girls weekends with childhood friends Laurie (Dean) May and Jennifer (Eiguren) Adams, along with their respective daughters, meant leaving the mascara at home - you were going to laugh until you cried it off anyway. Countless memories were also made year after year with the Yerringtons, Thompsons, and Botkins at the National Finals Rodeo. Lois valued her friendships deeply.
Above all, Lois was courageous in her faith. She loved the Lord deeply and held a steadfast belief in eternity. Her faith shaped her life and brought comfort, strength, and peace to both her and those around her.
She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her servant’s heart, and the joy she brought to every room she entered. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and the many lives she touched.
Lois is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rod Huber; her children: Ashlee (Andy) Bloomquist and their daughters, Ruby and Berry; Ryan (Lauren) Huber and their children, Emmy and Bo; and Ali (Andy) Newland and their children, Mason and Noah, with another grandchild on the way; as well as her two sisters and brother, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Lois’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for her throughout her illness. Special thanks to Miss Kim; the entire staff at Paramount Parks in Eagle, especially Roberto; and Keystone Hospice, especially Teresa. We could not have provided even a fraction of the care Lois received without your compassion, dedication, and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced.
