David William Day, 87, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. Born on October 10, 1937, in Elgin, Illinois, to Marjorie and Joseph Day, David lived a life full of service, creativity, and kindness.
David proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Princeton. After his military service, he worked as a pipefitter for the Illinois Gas Company and later earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Chicago. His career as a psychiatric technician and certified substance abuse counselor reflected his deep commitment to helping others. David also contributed to medical advancements through his participation in rheumatoid arthritis and joint replacement research programs with the University of Chicago.
A skilled artist in various mediums, David found joy in creating and, in retirement, crafting intricate miniatures. He cherished traveling with his beloved wife, Christie, and was an active member of Saguaro Christian Church. Known for his great sense of humor and kind heart, David left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
David is survived by his wife, Christie; children, Dan, Darren, Micky, Jennifer, and Kimberly; and grandchildren, Brian, Alex, Gabriel, and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Joseph Day, and his sisters, Cynthia and Janice.
A memorial service will be held on September 8, 2025, at noon at Saguaro Christian Church in Tucson, Arizona with a reception to follow. David’s warmth and generosity will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his family, friends, and community.
