Gordon Leo Etheredge

Sep 4, 1944 — Oct 29, 2025

Gordon Leo Etheredge of Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away on October 29, 2025, just two months after his eighty-first birthday, of natural causes. He passed away quietly and peacefully in Tucson, Arizona, holding the hand of his loving wife and surrounded by his loved ones and caring staff. Family members who preceded Gordon in death and met him in heaven are his mother, Beulah C. Etheredge, father, Norval L. Etheredge, and sister, Sandra L. Bromwell. Gordon is survived by his wife, Trudy A. Etheredge, his daughter, Rikki R. Johnson, his son, Brad A. Etheredge, and his niece, Rhea L. Lopez. Gordon left behind on this earth a total of seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Born on September 4, 1944, in Phoenix, Arizona, Gordon was a beloved family member who touched many lives with his profound sense of humor, generosity, gregarious nature, creativity, and benevolence. He has this uncanny ability to comfortably fit into any social setting and befriend just about anyone. His brilliant mind and disarming wit consume the attention of others, blessing them with his presence and genuine character. Gordon readily shares anecdotes about his adventures and invites his friends and family to share in the stories eighty-one years of his grand life bestowed upon him. In this way, he connects with those around him and builds a community wherever he finds himself.

Gordon graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in 1957 and attended Arizona State University for some time to study business administration. He began his vocational journey at Hexcel Industrial Park but later found himself excelling in the newspaper industry. He assumed various roles in the circulation departments for both the Arizona Republic and Casa Grande Dispatch. Gordon also owned and managed his own vending machine business. Gordon’s hobbies and interests included spending time with family and friends, coin collecting, listening to music, traveling, and anything related to sports. One of the most striking qualities of Gordon is his ability to recite the most detailed account of any athlete to come up in conversation. He retains the most vital and the most random facts, about both their athletic accomplishments and personal lives. Gordon’s favorite teams to watch were the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the ASU Sun Devils (for any sport).

A gathering to celebrate Gordon’s life will be announced later this year by his family. We will personally reach out to close family and friends and plan to post this announcement in the newspapers he was affiliated with. The celebration of life is targeted to be held in February of 2026 in Casa Grande, Arizona. If there are any questions or comments, you can email us at [email protected]
