Julia Ann Dean was born November 7, 1926 in Meadville, Missouri. She passed peacefully April 30, 2025. Her childhood was spent with her beloved identical twin sister and two older brothers. She was born in the house on the family farm, which had no electricity, before her family moved into town. She described an idyllic childhood with freedom to roam by bike and roller skates all around the town with their faithful dog, “Step”.

Education was emphasized in her family, as her father had attended college, and her mother went to a teacher’s college. She attended the University of Missouri during World War II when, “Most of the boys were serving in the War. She was proud of her education at the “renowned” department of journalism and worked for the newspaper in Columbia, Mo.

She married the love of her life, Cyrus William Dean, in 1946 and they raised a daughter, Julie, (Tom) and son, David, (Colleen). Survivors include, daughter (Julie), grandchildren (Tim Roth, Jen Crawford and Leslie Roth), great grandchildren (Kaelee, Jada, Dayton and Lucie), nieces (Julia Kay, Diane, and Kathleen) and nephews (David, John, Jim, Bill and Bruce) and her special Dean nieces and nephews.

Julia was a 78-year member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), an avid bridge player, reader and aerobic swim exerciser. She created beautiful needlework pieces that graced her home. Rooting for her football and basketball sports teams and watching golf tournaments were favorite pastimes. She exuded a charming, stylish appearance and manner.

She and her husband played golf, traveled to Europe and especially enjoyed visiting Bermuda. Julia was a long time fourth grade teacher and later volunteered as a docent at the Arizona History Museum.

She proved to be a resilient and self-determined woman who led a self-disciplined and healthy lifestyle. Julia’s family and friends will cherish her memory.
