Barbara Jean Surber

February 28, 1944 — November 13, 2007

Barbara Jean Surber was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Herbert C. and Jean M. (Wheelock) Nigg. She grew up in South Dakota and moved to Lucerne, Colorado at the age of 13. She attended Eaton High School and went to Beauty School in Greeley. She was a beautician in Eaton for several years. She married Robert E. Surber in Greeley in October of 1966. She moved to Denver in 1967 and Fort Collins in 1989. She worked for the Fort Collins Public Library until she retired in 2003. She moved to Greeley in 2004. Mrs. Surber enjoyed painting, cooking, and was a devoted grandmother. Mrs. Surber died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at North Colorado Medical Center. Survivors: Her former husband, Robert Surber of Saratoga, WY; daughter, Pamela Oswald and husband Andrew of Greeley; grandchildren, Nicholas, Mitchell, Lillian and Nell, all of Greeley; sister, Kathy Gilliland and husband Dale of Livermore, Colorado; brother, Glenn Nigg and companion Anita of Greeley, several loved nieces, nephews and family members. Preceded in death by: Her parents. Service: Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday November 16, 2007 at Adamson West Chapel.
